Italian Pavilion is back at the 76. Cannes Film Festival
Organized and promoted by Cinecittà, the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual - MiC, MAECI, ICE Agency, the Italian Pavilion is located again at the Hotel Majestic from May 16 to 27 with a packed calendar. The activities are held in a vast indoor area with a business room for industry player meetings, a conference room, and a terrace overlooking Montée des Marches for the press activities of the Italian films in competition.
Furthermore, from May 16 to 24, the Pavilion is also at the Marché du Film – a pivotal gathering of the world film market –with a stand (number A6 C1) in the Palais des Festivals, where 18 foreign sales companies are hosted.
The website www.italianpavilion.it is also on the Marché du Film platform, and the section dedicated to Cannes includes a guide to the screenings and information on the Italian films presented at the Festival and the Market, a program with detailed information on all the events, a list of sales companies at the Marché, and a constantly updated window of video stories, with insights, interviews with the protagonists, and a focus on everything concerning the activities at the Pavilion.
As part of the program dedicated to the internationalization of Italian cinema, in addition to the usual appointments organized by the DGCA-MiC Special Projects Office at Cinecittà, and in collaboration with Doc/it - Italian Documentary Association, Italy can be found at Cannes Docs, a dedicated Market with a program of tailored events held for all real-life filmmakers. Four teams (director and producer) of Italian documentary rough-cut projects will participate in the Italy Showcase on Saturday, May 20, and in six days of networking with distributors, sales agents, and representatives of international festivals.
As visitors to the Cannes Pavilion know well, the Italian space is distinguished at each edition by an original set-up: a reference to the style of our cinema and a special taste for hospitality. The 2023 Pavilion concept is based on the evolution and movement of the typical forms of the art of cinema: the silhouette of the Palm Tree, the symbol of the Festival, and other objects related to the world of cinema become abstract shapes through a smooth and dynamic morphing process made of concentric lines. The technology used creates surprisingly smooth transitions, opening boundless new creative visual possibilities.
