Billy
Among the many teachers at Billy?s middle school, one is a film history enthusiast. He never stops talking about Westerns and the heroic adventures of the personalities of the Far West, causing the students in his class to daydream. The students end up identifying themselves with the protagonists of the stories they hear: the courageous sheriffs, the treacherous Apaches or bank-robbing bandits, the beautiful dames, and so on. Their dreams start to take form on screen. Billy, the new, 10-year-old sheriff, fights for right in Cactus City against Apaches forever on the warpath and Mexican “bandidos” who are professional criminals. When Lou Lou, a nine-year-old dancer and singer arrives for the village festival, Billy falls in love. However, he is contested by the similarly love-stricken Crazy Horse. At the annual rodeo Billy defeats his adversary while underhandedly suffering a wound from Crazy Horse and deeply moving Lou Lou. Suddenly the “bandidos” assault the town bank and Billy intervenes. A duel between Billy and the head bandit decides the fate of the encounter. Billy is the victor, precisely plugging the barrel of his opponent?s colt with a lucky shot. In reality the object in question is only a baseball bat, disputed over between Billy and a classmate during recess and finally taken away by the teacher.
