Francesco Cesena is a smart cop who doesn’t like his job. While conducting a “routine” investigation he gets involved in a shoot-out, during which one of his colleagues is gunned down, he himself is wounded and he kills an ex-con and his wife. Some time later two kids, Fabrizio and Simonetta, are arrested one night for car theft, and Cesena and his assistant Cane ( who is about the same age as the young thieves) are the ones who have to question them. That night the kids tell the cops how they spent their day; it is the story of two wasted lives; two people who have gone completely off the rails. Cesena is so fascinated by the fragile personality of this desperate girl who seems as hard as nails, that he loses interest in questioning her. But Simonetta is determined to go all the way.
