A visionary fairtytale which depicts the under-belly of Palermo with its small-time bosses, hitmen, and pick pockets. Half-starved wasters, drunk on life and fear wander the backstreets as well as a beautiful young widow and a disillusioned mafioso and many many others who are illuminated against a backdrop of violence, music and religion. Almost hidden by the chaos is twelve-year-old Toto who wants to be older so he’ll be taken seriously by the green-eyed Lina …and also so he can avenge the death of his father.
