Big success for Naples ’44 shown at the Film Forum in New York. The theatrical run was scheduled from November 29 to December 12, but has now been extended after the sold-out screenings of the first few days. Written and directed by Francesco Patierno, produced by Dazzle Communication with Rai Cinema, and theatrically released in Italy by Istituto Luce Cinecittà, the documentary is based on the novel by Norman Lewis of the same title. It imagines the British official, who became a writer after the war, going back after many years to the city he fell in love with. There he lives a visionary amarcord made of frequent flashbacks between the places of the present and the stories of the past. This way, among ladies wearing hats of feathers who milk the goats among the ruins and statues of the saints idolized by the locals in order to stop a volcano eruption, the films composes an exciting and unpredictable mosaic of unforgettable characters.
