From the Middle East to the Far East, three big festivals – Haifa, Busan, and Tokyo – showcase a selection of Italian films. A common thread is Taviani brothers’ Rainbow, that will be screened in each of these three festivals after its world premiere in Toronto.

Seven Italian films will be screened at the 33rd Haifa International Film Festival (October 5-14), presenting a variety of Italian cinema, including animation film Cindarella the Cat. The selection also include: A ciambra, Love Stories that Cannot Belong to This World, Emma, The Intruder, and Holding Hands. Directors Alessandro Rak, Jonas Carpignano, Silvio Soldini, Leonardo Di Costanzo, and actress Lucia Mascino will attend the festival.

The 22nd Busan International Film Festival will take place from October 12 to 21, alongside its big film market. The line-up features seven italian films: Diego Olivares‘ Poison will compete in the Flash Forward section dedicated to young talents; in the same section, out of competition, also Dario Albertini‘s Manuel and Valentina Pedicini‘s Where Shadows Fall. The World Cinema section will show The Intruder, Vincenzo Marra‘s Equilibrium, and Paolo Virzì‘s The Leisure Seeker.

Silvia Luzi‘s and Luca Bellino‘s debut feature Crater is selected in the international competition of the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival (October 25 – November 3).
