The Tribute to Claudia Cardinale lands in Paris

Cinecittà’s retrospective dedicated to “Claudia Cardinale, l'indomabile” reaches France

The Parisian summer is once again tinted with the hues of Rome. The second edition of Dolcevita-sur-Seine, the Paris+Rome twinning festival, takes place from July 8 to 12 along the Seine promenade, facing the Ile Saint-Louis alfresco, and at the Paris Cinéma Club partnering theaters in the Latin neighborhood. During the same days, in collaboration with the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, Nouvelle Vague on the Paris Tiber meets Roman moviegoers in one of the most magical sites of the Eternal City: the Casa del Cinema, in the greenery of the Roman park Villa Borghese.
Dolcevita-sur-Seine and Nouvelle Vague sul Tevere are sister festivals with mirroring programming and streaming links connecting the Parisian and Roman stages, their guests, and their audiences. This second edition already has an honorary star, Claudia Cardinale. The Palatine Association, the organizer of the Paris+Rome festival, proudly presents Cinecittà’s great tribute to the most French of Italian actresses.
Cinecittà’s retrospective dedicated to “Claudia Cardinale, l’indomabile” reaches France, the actress’s second country, after being presented last January at the New York MoMA and the Casa del Cinema in Rome. Indomitable: one of Claudia Cardinale’s strongest features. Born in Tunis in 1928, she is the sole leitmotif of all her artistic choices. The program of the retrospective includes eleven of her most relevant movies, relived in a restored 4K version, and the preview of the short film Un Cardinale Donna by Manuel Maria Perrone, produced by Claudia Squitieri and shot at the actress’s home near Paris. The homage begins on July 6 at the Italian Cultural Institute, with the screening of the photographs collected in the book “Claudia Cardinale, l’indomabile” published by Electa-Cinecittà. The retrospective takes place outdoors at the Dolcevita-sur-Seine from July 8 to 12 and until the end of July in the Latin neighborhood at the Paris Cinéma Club movie theaters.
In a festive atmosphere open to all, the celebration of the Paris+Rome twinning festival aims at offering the moviegoers an experience of the special relationship between the two capital cities and, more generally, between France and Italy, as well as promoting the shared common heritage between the countries, specifically through the world of cinema, with a high-quality mirrored program (French films in Rome and Italian in Paris): films, photographic exhibitions, theatre shows, music, meetings, urban webcams. The full program of the Paris+Roma party is to be presented at a press conference in Paris on June 28.
