1. OPTIMIZATION. Management efficiency to ensure solidity and improvement of the operating margin
2. QUALITY. Service excellence as an attraction for the domestic and international market

An economic-financial and design program that confirms Cinecittà as an excellence, a cultural industry embodying a dual soul comprising business and culture, and a creative enterprise capable of driving the image of our country in the world and creating social value.
As stated by Manuela Cacciamani, CEO of Cinecittà, “We are not just building new studios: we are redefining the meaning of film production in Europe. Cinecittà must be a factory that works at full capacity, every day, with excellence as a minimum standard. We are not only interested in participating: we want to lead the game,” and she adds, “We cannot build the future of cinema if we do not valorize those who, every day, shape it with their hands, ideas and skills. The human capital of those who work at Cinecittà is not a resource: it is our identity.”
The core business focuses on reception and support of large audiovisual productions within an efficient and highly competitive operational and creative ecosystem.
A global mission with Italian roots.
THE PLAN IN SUMMARY:
The strategic and ambitious plan poses an unprecedented production capacity for Cinecittà.
Thanks to PNRR investments, the construction of 5 new sound stages and the total renovation of 4 new highly technological stages will be completed by June 2026, to go from the current 20 to the future 25, leading to a 60% increase in production capacity. This expansion consolidates Cinecittà as the main Italian district for audiovisual production and one of the most complete in Europe, ready to welcome complex, innovative and internationally important productions.
OPTIMIZATION. Management efficiency to ensure solidity
Once fully operational, the 2025-2029 Plan aims to mitigate market risks, stabilize revenues and optimize the costs of managing sound stages. The Plan confirms Cinecittà as the first European choice for international and Italian film and TV series productions thanks to:
- consolidated partnerships with main global majors
- collaboration with Italian executive producers
- a strong synergy with trade associations to support domestic productions
The confirmation of the 40% international tax credit, among the most competitive worldwide, is a further point in favor of the attractiveness of the Studios for foreign productions.
QUALITY. Service excellence as an attraction for the foreign market
The completion of the construction of 9 new high-tech sound stages in June 2026 will allow Cinecittà to increase its commercial activities during the Plan period.
Cinecittà has invested in strengthening its technological offering, placing itself at the forefront of virtual production thanks to the Virtual Stage active in Theater 18, one of the largest theaters for virtual filming in Europe, and the strengthening of the audio-video post-production hub.
This is accompanied by an active Italian film development and printing laboratory, a rare resource and a flagship at a global level.
These infrastructures allow Cinecittà to compete also in the emerging segments of digital and hybrid productions.
The plan also includes attention to increasing the training and number of Cinecittà workers, both traditional – a historical pride of the Studios – and new digital professions.
PEOPLE. Growth of the internal staff to enhance the offer
Human capital is at the heart of the Plan, with interventions dedicated to:
- insertion of new professional figures, particularly in the set design sector, which will deliver modernization, and a generational change made necessary for market demands
- advanced training programs and internships, in collaboration with recognized international entities
- Staff training and activation of internships to face the evolution of the market with updated skills, including the correct use of Artificial Intelligence.
- Scouting of new creative talents.
- Strengthening of corporate welfare.
SUSTAINABILITY. Implementation of sustainable environmental and social practices to responsibly meet market demands
As part of the new Industrial Plan, a policy for sustainability and green economy will allow Cinecittà to continue with the initiatives launched by the ReGeneration project with dual objectives: achieving carbon neutrality across its assets and services and, positioning itself as a leading resource for stakeholders in providing sustainability guidelines for productions.
Cinecittà serves as a symbolic figure of Italian production; championing environmental sustainability communicates not only a production message, but also a profound sensitivity to those who work within or collaborate with Cinecittà.
Furthermore, the company will launch social initiatives aimed at promoting cinematographic art as therapy.
SUPPORT AND DIVERSIFICATION. Driving for audiovisual and new business lines
Over the next five years, Cinecittà aims to consolidate its leading position in the audiovisual sector in Italy by strengthening its cultural and institutional activities.
The Plan includes the expansion of activities in the following areas:
- enhancement of the Luce Archive by completing the digitalization of the film archive (one of the very few visible entirely online, with over 70,000 films from 1924 to today) and photographic archive (reaching 5 million photographs); ensuring the preservation of analog media; and offering expanded access to content for all.

2025: THE RETURN OF PRODUCTIONS
Following a challenging season marked by prolonged Hollywood strikes involving actors and screenwriters as well as the devastating fires in Los Angeles, Cinecittà is regaining momentum by welcoming major productions.
Among the most notable projects filmed recently at the Studios in Via Tuscolana are the sci-fi thriller White Mars starring Luke Newton and Lucy Hale shot in Theater 18, and Mel Gibson’s The Resurrection of the Christ, the long-awaited sequel to ‘The Passion of the Christ’ produced by Icon, which will make significant use of the new Theater 22 at Cinecittà. Renowned filmmaker Ridley Scott has also chosen Cinecittà for his upcoming project The Dog Stars.
Additionally, the Studios will host the production of Roma Elastica by visionary French director Bertrand Mandico. The film, starring international star Marion Cotillard, is a tribute to some of the great masters and legends of Italian cinema and is a co-production between the French Atelier de Production, and the Italian Redibis Film and Dugong Films.
Furthermore, a new project by Ficarra and Picone is underway. Meanwhile, other exciting productions by Disney, Universal, Fox Nation not yet announced are in preparation.
Noteworthy is the decision by major companies to handle the post-production of their projects at Cinecittà’s state-of-the-art laboratories, focusing on both video and audio. Titles such as Better Man, the biopic about Robbie Williams, Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard, together with Roland Emmerich’s series Those About to Die and Queer by Luca Guadagnino, all of which shot in Cinecittà, have made use of these facilities. The trust in Cinecittà’s technical departments are a testament of their reliability and excellence, a guarantee for the world’s leading directors.
At the same time, partnerships with prominent film, TV and entertainment production companies such as Fremantle and Endemol Shine are brought on and promise to bring an array of new projects to the studios.
Since its inception in 1937, Cinecittà Studios has become a cornerstone of the film industry, offering a complete range of production and post-production services for every audiovisual genre, and allowing creative operators to follow the entire chain of their project, from the script to the finished film. By June 2026, the number of theaters will expand to 25, complemented by a 10-hectare backlot for outdoor filming and 21,000 square meters dedicated to production services, making this creativity factory increasingly welcoming and attractive for domestic and international productions.
The new industrial plan projects us into an evolutionary and expansive future, integrating advanced technology and updates, while staying faithfully rooted in the most creative and essential element – its people, the true driving force of Cinecittà’s legacy.
This plan rejuvenates the cultural and visionary identity of Cinecittà, reaffirming its original mission: to serve as the crossroads of technique and imagination, where the stories that move the world take shape.
