LuceLabCinecittà: Calls for New Courses Now Available

Set Design, Poster Art, Tailoring, DIT and Data Manager, Screenwriting and Direction for Cross Platform Content, VFX Compositing & Overview SFX, Dubbing Sound Engineer, Synchronization and Editing Technician, Audio Restoration Technician, Scanner Operator, and Film Technician.

Calls are now available for the new LuceLabCinecitta courses, starting in October, in Set Design (Gorizia), Poster Art (Ferrara), Tailoring (Trieste), and in Rome: DIT and Data manager, Screenwriting and Direction for Cross Platform content, VFX Compositing & Overview SFX for cinema and audiovisual.

Also starting at the Cinecittà headquarters in Rome are the new editions of the specialized post-production courses for Dubbing Sound Engineer, Synchronization and Editing Technician, Audio Restoration Technician and the Historical Archive courses in preservation for Scanner Operators and Film Technicians.

FROM PENCIL TO CLASP: COURSE IN SET DESIGN

The course in Set Design created by Cinecittà in collaboration with ANAC, explores the visual language of cinema and the techniques for creating scenic environments, combining technical and artistic design. The main topics covered will focus on the creation of a set, the study of lighting and photography, and defining the mood for the visual reading of a set, along with a methodological approach on historical research, visual documentation and the correct application of styles, and detail analysis for the creation of authentic settings; screenplay reading, study of the narrative structure and definition of spatial requirements, such as furnishings, scenography and logistical needs.

The training course, free to attend and aimed at 18 participants, is to begin in October 2025 and end by the end of January 2026. It lasts 350 hours, divided between lectures and practical training, and takes place in Gorizia, at the FormEdil headquarters in via Monte Santo 131/42. The lessons will be held on weekdays, from Monday to Friday.

COMMUNICATION OF A FILM WORK THROUGH THE ART OF POSTERS

Learning about film posters starting from the history of illustrated posters up to the rediscovery of film painters; the techniques and evolution of advertising communication, from painting to digital graphics; conveying the skills necessary to design, develop and experiment with graphic proposals aimed at the creation of a film poster by using various analog and digital tools – these are the objectives of the 100-hour training course to be held in Ferrara during a weekend formula: Saturday (6 hours a day) and Sunday (4 hours a day).

ARTISAN WORKSHOP: TAILORING & ACCESSORY CREATION

This course trains artisans in the specialized art of sewing and of creating accessories for the film, theater, and entertainment industries. Curated by ITS Arcademy – Museo dell’Arte nella Moda, the 250-hour program runs Monday to Friday at the museum’s educational spaces and tailoring workshops in Trieste.

DIT AND DATA MANAGER TRAINING

This course is designed to develop highly qualified professionals for the Digital Cinema sector. Participants will gain the theoretical and practical skills essential for working within the Camera Department, including in-depth knowledge of digital cinema shooting techniques, production data management and archiving, and the operational workflow of major digital cameras.

The program consolidates the crucial skills of the Data Manager and Digital Imaging Technician roles, vital for modern production and post-production processes. Limited to train 9 experts, this 200-hour course combines lectures and practical training, held at the SHOT Academy headquarters in Rome.

SCREENWRITING AND DIRECTING FOR CROSS-PLATFORM CONTENT

This training course is designed to equip aspiring writers and directors with the skills to conceive, structure, and create original narrative content across various platforms, including animation, cinema, television series, and digital formats. Through an integrated approach of theory and practical application, participants will master key dramatic writing and directing techniques. They’ll learn to build effective concepts, define credible settings and characters, develop compelling scripts, and manage visual staging.

This program is designed to train 18 experts and consists of 130 hours of training, held at the Rainbow Academy headquarters in Rome.

VFX COMPOSITING & SFX OVERVIEW FOR CINEMA AND AUDIOVISUAL

This course provides a comprehensive overview of physical special effects while intensely focusing on compositing within The Foundry Nuke. The goal is to train professionals who can analyze, create, and seamlessly integrate practical, digital, and full-CG effects with precision and synergy. The idea is to make the student autonomous in managing the entire post-production workflow, ensuring complete visual coherence.

Designed for 18 aspiring experts, this program spans 240 hours of lectures and hands-on practical training, all held at the Rainbow Academy headquarters in Rome.

POST-PRODUCTION FOR DUBBING SOUND ENGINEER, SYNCHRONIZATION AND EDITING TECHNICIAN, AUDIO RESTORATION TECHNICIAN – 2nd Edition

120 hours of training per course, divided between lectures and practical training held at the Cinecittà headquarters in Rome, designed to train 36 operators, 12 per category.

SCANNER OPERATOR AND FILM TECHNICIAN – 3RD EDITION

The Course is designed to train 16 experts, 8 per category. The courses are aimed at training laboratory and scanning technicians with versatile skills in the digitization, preservation and enhancement of film heritage. The specific course dedicated to the training of SCANNING TECHNICIANS – SCANNER OPERATOR is focused on the planning and execution of the digitization processes of film materials. The specific course dedicated to the training of LABORATORY TECHNICIANS – FILM TECHNICIAN is focused on the acquisition of inspection, identification and repair skills of film material, with particular attention to the preparation of materials for their digitization.

The two courses have a duration of 112 hours, divided between lectures and practical training at the Cinecittà headquarters in Rome, with a mixed formula: theoretical lessons during the week (evening hours) and practical workshops on the weekend (Friday and/or Saturday – full time)
