Act of sorrow
A widow with two children, Elena (Claudia Cardinale) runs a small antique stand in Milan. One day she discovers that her youngest child, 16-year-old Sandro (Karl Ziny), uses drugs, marking the beginning of her painful crusade to save her son from heroine addiction. The film follows each of her futile attempts up to the inevitable and tragic conclusion. Pasquale Squitieri?s treatment of the “drug issue” is overly-simplistic in exasperated scenes both banal and cliché.
