Born in Sardinia in 1891, Gramsci is a socialist student in Turin. In 1919 he establishes the newspaper “L’ordine nuovo” and guides the labor movement?s burgeoning works committees. In 1921 he becomes one of the founders of the Communist Party. Then in 1926 the fascist regime condemns him, a member of Parliament, to 20 years of seclusion in the Turi prison, where he ends up alienating his “companions” in seclusion.
