In an old country house Paolo lives with his father Guglielmo who designs fantastic flying machines. Paolo steals the voices of the birds and of nature to create strange symphonies that no record company is willing to take into consideration. When Paolo is thirty he decides to go to the city where his mother, Carla, has an important job in a TV productions firm. This new work of his brings him into contact with Giuliana, aged 25, and an aspiring actress. To make her happy, Paolo invents a series of scabrous and shocking stories to be made into a film with himself as director and Giuliana as lead actress. One of Paolo’s “ideas”, a scene of sexual assault featuring Giuliana, somehow gets out of hand during shooting and turns into an actual rape. The film is so efficacious that it wins a prize in a competition. But this triumph is insignificant and undesired. However, from this defeat Paolo and Giuliana decide to begin anew.
