Antonio Lombardi is a seventy-year-old pensioner, who lives with his son, Luca and family. One morning , after having collected his pension, he returns home with his pockets full of sweets and cigarettes. At home, he overhears a conversation between his son and daughter-in-law on the difficulty of living together in such a small apartment. Antonio is desperate. He can already imagine himself in an old people’s home with nurses like the ones from nazis concentration camps. Luca’s family goes away for the weekend and Antonio takes advantage of the empty house to organize a sumptuous meal for his friends. Unfortunately, he is taken ill and wakes up in hospital. When he returns home, he realises he is in the way and decides to leave. Before going, however, he wants to spend a last afternoon with his adored grandson.
