Vittorio is a television program writer who wants to do a piece on Pola Mareschi, a famous theatrical actress who has long-since relinquished the stage and is absolutely against being interviewed. His strategy is to convince Lidia, with whom he lives and also shares a child, to wear a hidden microphone. The microphone?s discovery marks its destruction, bringing Vittorio to the scene. The next morning Vinicio convinces the young Lidia that the theatre is evil and it would be better for her to turn her back on that way of life forever.
