A university professor discovers that one of the girls he meets in a brothel, is none other than one of his final-year students. As he is frightened of being recognized and black-mailed, he prepares a confession to give to his wife and the academic council. Valeria, a television presenter, cannot do anything to help her father arrested for corruption or anything about the negative ratings her programme gets. Vittorio contributes to the tragic destiny of his patient, in part through his personal carelessness and in part because obliged to take a particular course of action by his professional code of ethics. Roberto, the university professor’s seriously ill son, disappears from school one day. In this way, he replies to his parents’ superficial state of anxiety.
