Alberto Donelli is a ten-year-old boy, son of Carla and Italo. The family also includes the grandfather Giuseppe, Carla’s father, who has two great passions in his life: soccer and communism. Gigi Riva is Alberto’s idol, and his only concern is finding the soccer sticker of Reginaldo Bertazzoli, the only piece missing from his album. The union between Carla and Italo is on the rocks, and when she meets Alberto’s temporary school teacher, Luigi Fossa, a young revolutionary, she immediately falls in love. They begin to meet secretly and are unintentionally discovered by Alberto. Italo begins to suspect something and tries to find proof of his wife’s infidelity, but he only finds his son’s football album. Carla and Italo quarrel, and the latter destroys his son’s soccer album. Alberto runs away from home and is only found at dawn. Alberto’s friends give him a new album but there is still one sticker missing: Reginaldo Bertazzoli.
