At the end of an evening spent in a left-wing editor?s house, an industrialist with an employee-managed factory gives his friends the idea of sending a letter to the director of a left-wing daily, asking to take part in the Vietnam War. Contrary to all predictions, the daily paper fails to publish the letter; however, it shows up just the same on the pages of a weekly. The industrialist?s friends? initiative grows, even to the point of obtaining foreign support all the way from Hanoi. Much too far past the point of no return, the group of friends finds themselves forced to depart.
