The narrative focus of this video dedicated to Pope John XXIII, one of the most important figures of the 20th century, is mainly based on testimonies of those who knew him personally and those who studied his importance and legacy in historical terms and particularly with regard to the history of the Church, A “host” introduces, comments and brings together the words of prominent intellectuals and Church leaders clarifying the historical relationships and the passing from one theme to another in order to recreate a narrative (a sort of “extended” dialogue) between the people interviewed who outline the personality of John XXIII in a simple and clear manner full of meaning. This method of presentation allows addressing the arguments in conversational style, but that does not make it less thorough. In this way, any restrictions and chronological stereotypes or preconceived theories are removed. The video unravels by following the “Aurelian Way” of the discussion, dialogue and dialectics between authoritative and convincing viewpoints. The host moves and acts inside a virtual studio and launches the various interviews and important video contributions taken from the archives of RAI and the Luce Institute. This method allows “orchestrating” a polyphony of voices and images that provide spectators with the most important characteristics of the man, Angelo Roncalli and teh pope, John XXIII. This is not done in a celebratory or laudatory manner, but rather in a passionate and comprehensive manner.
