An overpass at the periphery of Rome; a young fellow has a rock in his hand. Next to him is a young girl. They are Alessandro, adolescent son of Andrea, a rich dealer in sacred articles and Deborah, the 16 year-old daughter of Roberta, a woman who does whatever she can to make both ends meet, even prostituting. The two adolescents love each other, possibly even though so diverse. Alessandro, cultured and introvert, intensely lives the contradictions of the present, including being the son of a well-to-do superficially tied to tradition. Deborah, a young girl still searching for a feminine identity dreams of a rosy future that resembles more a soap opera than a voluntary act. Unknown to them, Roberta and Andrea have a mercenary relationship at her house. What they have in common is that neither of them communicate with their children.
