How did one of the most important private bankers in Europe end up dead hanging from one of London’s bridges? The film tries to investigate all aspects of this story and reveal what is behind the mystery, which still remains impenetrable from many points of view. The death of Roberto Calvi, head of the Ambrosiano Bank, marks one of the most explosive moments in the web of visible and invisible powers in Italy during the seventies, and a crucial point regarding international equilibrium. The story starts with the Sicilian financier, Sindona’s downfall and Calvi’s refusal to help him. Shortly afterwards, Calvi too, is investigated, his passport is taken away and he is arrested. From hereon Calvi’s life and his death are accurately reconstructed with the help of legal and journalistic documentation.
