Italian Pavilion at 77. Festival de Cannes
Once again, Canne’s Croisette opens its boardwalk to the international audiovisual community and, with its Festival, the Italian Pavilion, home of Italian cinema abroad, unlocks its door to professional meetings, business trades, and markets, afresh becoming the prime and strategic location for the presentation of our film production throughout the event.
Designed, set up, and managed by Cinecittà, thanks to a renewed collaboration with the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture (DGCA-MIC) and ICE-Agency for the promotion and the internationalization of Italian companies abroad, the Italian Pavilion welcomes professionals and film enthusiasts from May 14 to 24 at the Salon Marta of the Hotel Majestic in Cannes. With a business area for professional meetings, a conference room for presentations and conventions, and a delightful terrace for more casual meetings, the Pavilion also hosts the press activities of the Italian films presented at the festival.
The Italian Pavilion has two spin-offs: the first is its physical extension at the Marché du Film, Riviera A6-C1 stand, a dynamic space divided into different areas with a dedicated space for sellers. This year, the stand hosts the following companies: Fandango Sales, Filmexport Group, Minerva Pictures, Nexo Digital, True Colors, Tvco – 102 Distribution, Acek, Artex Film, Coccinelle Film Sales, Digilife Movie, Illmatic Film Group, Rewind Film, Summerside Media, The Open Reel.
The Italian Pavilion then extends its physical boundaries through its website, www.italianpavilion.it, to be included in the Marché du Film platform, as well. The website presents a calendar of the Italian film screenings presented at the festival and the market, as well as all other events organized at the Salon Marta of the Majestic Hotel.
Among the many, the internationalization activities organized by the DGCA-MiC/Cinecittà Special Projects office are of particular importance: these meetings aim to consolidate collaboration with our partners and to plan initiatives in favor of Italian producers, distributors, and sellers for the second half of 2024. The main engagement takes place on Friday, 17 May, at 12 pm, when all news and information on the Italian Screens program – a project involving the Cinema and Audiovisual Directorate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Cinecittà – will be revealed.
Other significant activities include a presentation of CNC and the French Embassy to announce a new shared project; the BAM-Bogotà Audiovisual Market event, which this year welcomes sellers to the Italian delegation; the arrival of delegates from the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), part of an in-depth event to be organized in Venice; a Unijapan meeting to plan activities for the promotion of partnerships between Italy and Japan after the co-production agreement signed last July; and a meeting between the MedFilm Festival and delegates from the Mediterranean area aimed at organizing joint events.
