Action! Time to dream again: Cinecittà re-opens to the public
From 3 February, imagination and culture will once again have a starring role. And, finally, they will be visitable once again. Cinecittà Studios reopens its immense historical and architectural heritage which has not stopped enchanting and fascinating since the late 1930s to the public. This setting, where the free expression of the imagination has been transformed into unforgettable stories for the Silver Screen, will safely open for visitors from Wednesday 3 February following the shift of the entire region of Lazio to yellow zone.
The exhibitions offered by Cinecittà Studios, created and promoted by Istituto Luce – Cinecittà, starting with Cinecittà si Mostra/ Cinecittà Shows Off , the permanent display that first brought the general public into the Studios and recounts the history and development of Cinecittà and Italian cinema, returns with a wide range of choice for visitors, including the guided tour of the open-air sets (Ancient Rome, Florence in the 1400s and the Temple of Jerusalem) which reveals behind the scenes secrets of making movies and TV series and the permanent routes Girando a Cinecittà/Shooting at Cinecittà, Backstage and Felliniana – Ferretti sogna Fellini providing a voyage into the imagination of the great masters of film and the genres of cinema.
MIAC, il Museo Italiano dell’Audiovisivo e del Cinema/ Italian Museum of Moving Images also reopens offering a voyage through 120 years of the history of Italian entertainment through video-installations and immersive installations.
A brand-new temporary exhibition marks the re-opening; Ri-tratto rosso – Elisabetta Catalano guarda Federico Fellini, in Teatro 1, recounts the dialogue between the film director from Rimini and the internationally renowned photographer, from Catalano’s very first photographs, on the set of Fellini’s 8 ½ to the distinctive and iconic portraits taken at the height of her career. This double tribute to the photographer and the genius of Italian cinema marks the closure of the Fellini Centenary celebrations by Istituto-Luce Cinecittà.
To properly celebrate the re-opening of Europe’s most famous film studios, Cinecittà si Mostra/ Cinecittà Shows Off is offering visitors the opportunity to visit all the museum routes on a single ticket at the special price of €15.
Furthermore, starting 10 February, a new promotion – Cinebreak – will be available every Wednesday – an initiative for those who would like to reward themselves at lunchbreak with a trip into the world of cinema: the €10 ticket, which includes the guided tour of the sets and access to all museum routes, is available for entrance at 1pm only.
