Discover the secrets of Cinecittà this Spring
For four weekends, from 7 to 28 April, visitors to the Studios will have access to the special places where cinema is created
Special entrance for visitors to: the Set Design department, the Carpentry Workshop, the Cinegarden and the historical buildings.
From 7 April, the special access days are back, opening up the most secret places of the Cinecittà Studios, the backstage sites used by Cinecittà personnel.
For four weekends in the Spring, plus the national holidays of 25 April and 1 May, visitors with tickets to the Cinecittà Shows Off exhibition, which includes the famous open-air film sets and the permanent displays (Why Cinecittà, Shooting in Cinecittà and Backstage – Cinecittà’s Educational Route) will have a special extra: access to the places where cinema is created.
Accompanied by expert guides, visitors can access a different location each weekend: starting on 7-8 April with the Cinegarden, where floral compositions and features for cinema and television are prepared. On 14-15 April, the Attrezzeria (Set Design Workshop) will be open to display the work of the set decorator, along with statues, jewellery and decorative elements from a range of styles and times, stretching from Imperial Rome to Ancient Egypt; 21-22 April marks the first time that the rooms of the Palazzina Presidenziale (Presidential building) will be accessible, this building is a splendid example of 1930s architecture, which conserves furnishings, sketches for set designs and scenic elements. Closing the cycle, on 28-29 April, a master artisan will be present in the Falegnameria (Carpentry workshop) to explain the process of constructing a set.
On 25 April, Liberation Day, and 1 May, Workers Day, Special Family Visits will feature itineraries and workshops created especially for adults, and the youngest of visitors, with many activities on offer. The programme for 25 April includes a tour themed around the fascinating sculpture of Federico Fellini’s Venusia, built for his film Casanova, which becomes the centrepiece of an imaginative story hovering between reality and fiction. While on 1 May, the sets will come alive with a special tour whose main ingredients are stories, secrets, cinema anecdotes and workshop activity.
