‘Those About To Die’, the tv series starring Anthony Hopkins shot at Cinecittà

The teaser trailer for the long-awaited series directed by Ronald Emmerich shot at Cinecittà, in which the Ancient Rome set is already recognizable amongst the first released images.

Peacock has released the international teaser trailer  (see the above images) for the long-awaited series Those About To Die, the epic drama directed by Roland Emmerich and shot at Cinecittà, in which the Ancient Rome set is already recognizable amongst the first released images.

The promo video stars the undisputed protagonists of the ten episodes, Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins as Vespasian, emperor of Rome and head of the Flavian dynasty, joined in the series by Tom Hughes as Titus Flavianus, Vespasian’s eldest son and candidate heir to the imperial throne; Jojo Macari, the ambitious younger son Domitian, Titus’ rival for the throne; and Gabriella Pession, Antonia, a cunning politician and ruthless patrician. 

“The telling of history is but a history of war. Citizens of Rome, place your bets well. For there are those about to rise and those about to die.” These are his first words as we witness scenes of combat between gladiators, characters at the centre of the events that explore, precisely, the world of the bloody games in ancient Rome, characterized by greed for money, power struggles and corruption.

The cast includes  Iwan Rheon in the role of Tenax, Sara Martins (Cala), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Viggo Jojo Macari, Dimitri Leonidas, Moe Hashim, Rupert Penry-Jones, Eneko Sagardoy, Pepe Barroso, Gonçalo Almeida, Kyshan Wilson, Alicia Edogamhe.

Those About To Die is set to premiere on the American streaming service Peacock on July 18 and will be later available on Prime Video.

‘L’oro di Napoli’ by Vittorio De Sica restored by Cinecittà pre-opens Venice

The classic film by and with Vittorio De Sica, L’oro di Napoli (The Gold of Naples, 1954) starring Eduardo De Filippo, Sophia Loren, Silvana Mangano, Paolo Stoppa and Totò, will be the Pre-opening film on Tuesday August 27th of the 81st Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia, on the 50th anniversary of the death of Vittorio De Sica and the 70th anniversary of the film.
