University and academy students visiting Cinecittà may take advantage of special routes dedicated to the history of cinema and to stories about the productions that made the Studios an iconic reference point in the collective imagination.
The Educational Department pays special attention to the visiting public wanting to expand and deepen their knowledge of Cinecitta by offering guided, themed tours, conducted by specialized museum educators and art and cinema historians. The various routes dedicated to the heritage of Cinecittà Shows Off and to MIAC –Museum of Moving Images allow visitors to encounter the experience of the cinema production line, study the evolution of the Italian audio-visual industry from the 1930s to today, and examine the work of the key figures in making a film, from costume and set designers to directors and screenwriters.

A guided tour focused on the material and tangible cultural heritage of Cinecittà that offers a view of the city of cinema not only as a place where films are produced but also as a generator of stories and imaginary worlds, a container of memories – historic, individual and collective, as it has been for 80 years. A route that combines the memories of ordinary people and the imagination of great directors, actors and protagonists of cinema to create a portrait of Cinecittà as an enormous “atlas of emotions”.

Costumes in a film add personality and form to the characters; the result of the great skill of costume designers, wardrobe specialists and theatrical tailors, they enchant on the screen and also off it. The guided tour of costumes from Italian and international films and TV series, on display in Cinecittà’s Palazzina Presidenziale, provides the opportunity to find out more about the creative process behind their conception and production.

MIAC –Museum of Moving Images situated in the Studios of Cinecittà offers a deep dive into the history of media, in relation to our collective imagination and the transformation of Italian society. Radio, cinema, television, photography and performance combine in an interdisciplinary route to captivate and draw in visitors, stimulating emotional and perceptive awareness with experiential storytelling.

Themed tour of Studio EL and Cinecittà Shows Off display routes
A tour dedicated to some of the most important partnerships in the history of Italian cinema: the set and costume designers who have given shape to the ideas of great directors and the words of their screenwriters. Professional partnership and friendship characterised the artistic unions of Federico Fellini and Dante Ferretti, Ettore Scola and Luciano Ricceri, Luchino Visconti and Suso Cecchi D’Amico, and the tour offers the opportunity to find out more about the phases, themes and techniques of film making.
Eur to Cinecittà: Novecento italiano in history, cinema and architecture
Double tour: Cinecittà Shows Off and EUR
A double guided tour dedicated to cinema and architecture that reveals the links between EUR, whose metaphysical atmosphere was beloved by Federico Fellini and Cinecittà: the Rationalist architecture that defines the two Novecento italiano settings is the starting point for many interdisciplinary connections between history, architecture, cinema and art. The events of the early 20th century are further explored through photographic content and film extracts at Cinecittà, tracing the history of Italian cinema.
